Hawking-Ellis classification of stress-energy tensors: Test fields versus backreaction
نویسندگان
چکیده
We consider the Hawking-Ellis (Segre-Plebanski) classification of stress-energy tensors, both in test-field limit, and presence back-reaction governed by usual Einstein equations. For test fields it is not too difficult to get a type~IV via quantum vacuum polarization effects. (For example, Unruh state for massless scalar field Schwarzschild background.) However, driven ordinary equations situation often much more constrained. instance: (1) any static spacetime always type I domain outer communication, on horizon that might be present; (2) stationary axisymmetric (3) Killing extendable bifurcation 2-surface I; (4) axis symmetry; (5) some homogeneous Bianchi cosmologies are guaranteed (for all cosmologies, FLRW "single mode" cosmologies). That is, very many physically interesting situations once one includes unusual types automatically excluded.

Energy Dominance and the Hawking Ellis Vacuum Conservation Theorem
At a time when uninhibited speculation about negative tension – and by implication negative mass density – world branes has become commonplace, it seems worthwhile to call attention to the risk involved in sacrificing traditional energy positivity postulates such as are required for the classical vacuum stability theorem of Hawking and Ellis. As well as recapitulating the technical content of t...
متن کاملQuantum fields interacting with colliding plane waves: the stress-energy tensor and backreaction
Following a previous work on the quantization of a massless scalar field in a spacetime representing the head on collision of two plane waves which fucus into a KillingCauchy horizon, we compute the renormalized expectation value of the stress-energy tensor of the quantum field near that horizon in the physical state which corresponds to the Minkowski vacuum before the collision of the waves. I...
متن کاملDark energy from backreaction
We consider the effect of inhomogeneities on the expansion of the Einstein-de Sitter universe. We find that the backreaction of linear scalar metric perturbations results in apparent dark energy with a mixture of equations of state between 0 and –4/3. We discuss the possibility that backreaction could account for present-day acceleration.
متن کاملStress-Energy Tensors for Higher Dimensional Gravity
We calculate, in the context of higher dimensional gravity, the stress-energy tensor and Weyl anomaly associated with anti-de Sitter and anti-de Sitter black hole solutions. The boundary counter-term method is used to regularize the action and the resulting stress-energy tensor yields both the correct black hole energies as well as a vacuum energy contribution which is interpreted as a Casimir ...
متن کاملCanonical and gravitational stress-energy tensors
It is dealt with the question, under which circumstances the canonical Noether stress-energy tensor is equivalent to the gravitational (Hilbert) tensor for general matter fields under the influence of gravity. In the framework of general relativity, the full equivalence is established for matter fields that do not couple to the metric derivatives. Spinor fields are included into our analysis by...
